Miles of Smiles

You must register for the race series to be eligible for points.  Registration is free.  You can register when you register for any of the races or on race day.  Regular race fees apply.

1. Age group will be determined by age on race day of each race.
2. The races included in the series are:
   • Run Your Buns Off 5K – June 4th, Ackley
   • Egg Days 5K – June 18th, Alden
   • Riverbend Rally 5K – July 2nd , Iowa Falls
   • Summerfest “Cardinal Trot” 5K Run – July 16th, Radcliffe
   • Pine Lake Trail Run 5K – July 30th, Eldora
   • Tarheel Days 5K – August 6th, Union
   • Beeds Lake Restoration Run 5K, 10K and Half-marathon – Aug. 27th, Hampton (Any of the three race distances at the Beeds Lake Restoration Run will apply toward point totals.
3. Points will accumulate throughout the races of the series.
4. You may run any number and combination of the races.
5. Points will be awarded as follows:
   • 25 points for each race finished
   • Overall top 3 male and female finishers earn:
     • 1st place – 50 points
     • 2nd place – 40 points
     • 3rd place – 30 points
     • Plus 1 point for every 10 runners in the race
6. Age group points:
   • 1st place – 40 points
   • 2nd place – 30 points
   • 3rd place – 20 points
   • Plus 1 point for every Miles of Smiles participant in the age group
7. Bonus 40 points for anyone under age 15 on June 4th or 40+ on August 27th.  (One-time award for the season, not per race)
8. Participants will receive only one place-winner point award per race.
   • Example 1: If a runner wins the overall race he or she also wins his or her age group, but will only receive the points for the overall win.  They will be removed from the age group scoring.
   • Example 2: If a runner places in the top 3 overall, but also wins his or her age group it is possible that the age group points could be more than the overall points.  In this case the runner will receive the greater of the two point awards.  The other points will slide to the next in line.
9. If a runner in the top 3 of any category is not part of the race series, the points will slide to the next series participant.

• $100 cash prize for the top male and female point leaders at the end of the series.
• Custom trophies for the top male and female point leaders at the end of the series.
• Anyone who runs two or more of the races will be entered in a drawing for two Oral-B motorized toothbrushes ($120 value) after the Beeds Lake Restoration Run
• Anyone who runs at least 3 of the races will receive a free shirt commemorating the achievement.
